Introducing young shooters to sporting clays is a great way to build confidence, develop new skills, and spend time outdoors in a safe, supportive environment. At Jacksonville Clay Target Sports, our youth programs are designed to help participants of all experience levels learn the fundamentals of the sport while having fun along the way.
Every young shooter begins with a strong foundation in firearm safety, proper shooting techniques, and good sportsmanship. Under the guidance of experienced, certified coaches, participants develop their skills through regular practice while learning the importance of focus, discipline, responsibility, and teamwork.
For those interested in competition, JCTS is proud to host the Jax Clay Target Busters, a team that competes through the Scholastic Clay Target Program (SCTP). Team members have the opportunity to train with certified coaches, participate in local and national competitions, and experience the personal growth that comes from setting goals and working together as a team.
Jacksonville Clay Target Sports is committed to making youth shooting sports accessible to as many families as possible. The club covers the annual $25 SCTP membership fee for each student, helps subsidize targets and ammunition through NRA Youth Clay Target Sports Development Grants, and even provides loaner shotguns for participants who need equipment.
Whether your child is interested in recreational shooting or competitive clay target sports, there's a place for them at JCTS. To learn more about our youth programs and how to get started, visit our Youth Programs page. We look forward to welcoming the next generation of shooters to the range.
