International Skeet Competition

JCTS welcomes the Jacksonville International Skeet Competition, February 16 - 18, 2018. JCTS International Skeet Chairman, Dr. Ed Franco, explains why only the brave and daring will challenge the International skeet targets this weekend.  International Skeet, also known as Olympic Skeet, is considered more challenging than American Skeet for several reasons. First, competitiors start with the shotgun’s butt stock held at hip level (aka "low gun" position) and then call for their targets. Second, there is a random 0 to 3 second delay from when the shooter calls for the bird to when the target is launched. Third, the targets are thrown farther and faster than American Skeet targets (72yds at 65mph versus 61yds at ~50mph). And fourth, 12-gauge ammunition used in Int'l. Skeet events is restricted to a lighter load of lead pellets to further increase the shotgun events’ difficulty. Looking for a new challenge? Then this is the game for you! Join us at JCTS this weekend for the Jacksonville International Skeet Competition!
