Dear Member    November was a very good month for Jacksonville Clay Target Sports. At the beginning of the month the club hosted the Jacksonville Corporate Challenge where corporate teams compete for “bragging rights” as the best team in Jacksonville. This event is the club’s only event where all proceeds go toward the club’s capital improvements. It was a tough competition this year, with Intrepid Capital edging out Wild West Guns and Gold by a single target. October has been a tough month at Jacksonville Clay Target Sports, as Hurricane Matthew came through with a vengeance. Many trees have fallen, dividers between skeet fields were blown down, and we were without power for a week. As a result, the Emory Pappy Skeet Tournament had to be canceled, but despite the damage we sustained; it could have been a lot worse, and considering the possibilities, I’d say we dodged a bullet and survived with just minor scratches. Our staff did a terrific job with cleaning up the damage in no time. When you see them please thank them...

October is here and the hunting season is on. I hope you had a chance to shoot a few clay targets before going to the field. If you have not been around you will see many improvements at the club. Many thanks for that project goes to Marsha Faulkner, our interior designer; Michele Menzer, for helping with the purchase of furniture; and Buck Buchannan, for all the work he did. Second, a major project was completed which included work on the parking area, the entrance road, and the road from beginning to end of Sporting Clays Course 1. Construction of Sporting Clays Course 2 started on July 12th, and as of this writing construction on the road and...

Jacksonville Clay Target Sports Newsletter June 2016

Summer is almost here and the weather is getting hot. With days in the high 80s and soon–to-be low 90s, it becomes challenging to shoot multiple rounds. I personally find that shooting sporting clays in the shade is much more comfortable than under the summer sun.  Fortunately, some of our skeet fields are shaded and nicer to shoot from. And better yet,  we can look forward to those long summer days when we can shoot till 9:00PM on Wednesdays.Last week we finished our second sporting clays tournament. We had 66 participants in the morning and 44 in the afternoon, with...
